Weekly
Weekly gamma (Oct 23 expiry, 1 DTE) back to negative: −$10.7M vs +$17.4M yesterday; spot 81.6k slipped below the 82.1k flip — sharper moves, fakeouts likely. Max pain 82k with the gamma mass right there — a magnet $400 above spot into tomorrow. Walls: calls 86k (90k behind it, 823 OI), puts 78k (2,070 OI, largest strike of the week). Board isn't skewed down: 80% of new OI this session went above spot — 84.5k (+201), 86k, 82.5k, 84k; 62% of gamma sits above price. Weekly charm +$3.3M (−$11.7M yesterday): sign flipped with OI mass vs spot.
IBIT: same expiry, positive gamma (+$12.8M), max pain 82.0k — matches BTC, but the put wall is closer at 80.2k, and that's where 12.3k contracts were added (biggest build of the day); call wall 84.6k, also built 85.5/86.4k. Venues agree on the 82k center, differ on depth of support: BTC 78k, IBIT 80.2k.
Total
Book DEX $3.06B — sharp drop from $4.47B yesterday; three days of growth erased in one pullback. Total flip 79.4k, max pain 79k — both books in positive gamma above them. Vol at the 23rd pct of the year: thin premium for sold vol, no directional read.
Week ahead (beta)
Day 110. Honest check: yesterday's 78–86k chop held — 83,887 → 81,613 — but the alt played, not the base 82.5–85k pin: the fifth push above 83k faded like the four before it; the downside trigger (loss of 83k and the 82.7k flip) ran to 81.8k — MA50 + IBIT cost basis, a spent zone. The drop ran on long liquidations (CLLD 1d +0.99). Only FOMC was flagged yesterday — it's Oct 28, nothing to check yet.
Base case: into tomorrow's expiry, a fight for 81.7–82k (MA50, IBIT cost basis, double max pain, gamma mass) inside 80–83k: Deribit weekly gamma is negative again, spot below the 82.1k flip — sharper moves, though IBIT's positive gamma with an 80.2k put wall (biggest build of the day) dampens. Week range 78,000–87,000 with buffer: FOMC Oct 28 is a macro event this week; in its hours vol runs multiples of normal — scale, not direction. Mixed backdrop: ETF inflows, CME with a weak long tilt, but DEX shrank a third, day in long liquidations; new weekly OI being placed above spot (84–86k). P(−10%) by Oct 30 ~4% — no crash priced. Slow trend still up.
Downside trigger: acceptance below 81.7k and 81k leads to 80.2k (IBIT put wall), 79.2k (score-5 fresh: flip + max pain + OI + cost basis; total flip 79.4k) and 78k (BTC put wall, 78.0k zone); a break of 78k opens 76k (puts built) and 75k (MSTR cost basis + quarterly max pain), then the monthly frame with the 70k put wall.
Upside trigger: reclaiming the 82.1k flip and 82.5k opens 83.7k and 84.5k (magnet, built there), 86–86.2k (call wall + fresh zone); 88k (score 3 fresh, quarterly call wall) and 90k cap the week.
Alt: pin 81.5–82.5k into tomorrow's expiry, then with the total book in positive gamma a return into the 82–87k shelf (fourth week) ahead of FOMC; but spot has given up the 82k edge for the third time in two weeks — a replay of Oct 15 with a poke to 80k isn't off the table. Beta.
